Whirinaki Forest, Minginui to Waipunga

This is the public easement track through Whirinaki Forest between Minginui and State Highway 5. It also includes detours to Te Tapiri fire lookout for views over the Kaingaroa Forest, and the public access to the walking tracks of

Avoid getting lost in the laberyth of forest tracks on this well known shortcut between Minginui just off SH38 aka Waikaremoana road, and Waipunga Falls on SH5.

The tracks are generally gravel forestry roads. There are some pumice sections that prone to rutting after heavy rain, so take care. Be careful of other traffic. This route is two way public access, you can come across other users around any corner.
