Wandering Ramble Day 1

On the front end of a week off of work, I went for a ride. I don't really like going into things blind, and the Adventure Bike Gathering is coming up, so I naturally decided to ride into Vernon while hitting a bit of off-pavement on the way. \
This was also my first trip out with my new GPS, a Montana 700, and it's mount. I haven't rocked a GPS unit since the orignal eTrex was released like....20 years ago, but I wanted a dedicated unit to keep my phone off the bars and my wife felt a lot better if I had inReach. So, the Montana fit the bill. I got the Backroad Mapbooks chip on there and it will route some FSRs and even the motorized segments of the KVR (as I found out on the way up to Vernon) just like they are paved roads--pretty neat!
I took the #3 from the Fraser Valley up to Princeton, then the Priceton Summerland road to the OK before finding myself on another FSR and a bit of KVR to Kelowna, then more highway into Vernon to hit up VPO for a new sleeping mat and headlamp. Then I hit 'rec sites' and picked one nearby, Loon Lake, to set up camp.
Props to a Chimp on Youtube for the tip about sticking food in your boot!
