Start: Premier Provincial Park
End: hydro dam near US border
Start time: 7:30am (central time)
End time:19:00 (pacific)
Total: 607km
130km Premier to Radium
Radium - Settlers FSR closed at Kootenay river bridge.
(66km each way)
The Fire and Closure
Before seeing the bridge blocked, we met a couple guys; (Glen?) KLR, friend on a dr650. Since I don’t recall your names, for now, it’s Glen and Bob. :)
Glen knew the route; said we could go through and based on signage, that sounded correct to us also. But shortly after heading on the route we came to a bridge with pylons and a temporary barrier.
After Elo and I discussed it, we didn’t feel that moving pylons was the right thing to do. And if we had an issue on that route, are we unnecessarily putting others in danger?
Glen & Bob were going to canal flats via Kootenay river fsr. (Looking at it again, I believe this is the route Scott took a couple of weeks ago).
In hindsight Elo and I should have gone that way but instead we went back to radium.
We had to back in Kelowna on Monday evening; this is now Sunday afternoon. So we pound pavement to Creston. Fernie is not in the cards for this trip.
Near Creston, we managed to get back on the KBDR and all is well again, and we rough camped at seven mile hydro dam.
